Norfolk Christian league reflects on core mission
This season is now well under way for the Norfolk Christian Football League (NCFL) and so it is time to reflect on our core principles and mission as we look forward to how the league can grow in its vision. General Secretary Jessica Tyson reports.
On Monday November 28 the NCFL Autumn Pastoral Leaders Meeting will be an opportunity for all supporters of the league to get together and be updated on the good work that is going on.
It is planned to cover three main discussion items:
- How the Olympics can be utilised for greater outreach in 2012, including a presentation on a mini-Olympics event planned for March 17th
- How churches now have a greater opportunity to link up with their local schools, using football and other sports activities
- A review of the League vision - with elements successfully delivered over the last season and those to be continued and developed
This annual meeting is also a brilliant opportunity for supporters of the Norfolk Christian Football League to encourage the league officers and stand united with them in prayer.
The central purpose of the NCFL is to reach team-mates, colleagues and young people for Christ through an example set in playing and administering football. We strongly encourage a prayer and a Scripture reading before every match and the football activities should be permeated with behaviour which demonstrates God’s grace and love.
The football, which the League provides, should be an extra means by which we can participate fully in a local church where we, as sports people, can encourage others and ourselves to grow in Christ.
The meeting will be held at Witard Road Baptist Church on Monday November 28, tea/coffee at 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start.
If you would like to attend please RSVP to Jess Tyson (NCFL General Secretary) by email to secretary@norfolk.cfl.co.uk or by phone 01603 630049 ext129.
