Norfolk teaching course makes Bible exciting

Deuteronomy is exciting! That’s what part-time students who are attending Thursday evening lectures at The Way of the Spirit in Framingham Earl near Norwich are discovering. Richard George reports.
WOTSStudentsPT420Coming alongside full-time residential students, Thursday evenings (7.30-9.30pm) is one of the modules students can attend on a part-time basis.

This term we’re looking at Deuteronomy, which is the sermon Moses preached to Israel just before they entered the Promised Land. Being a sermon, it’s full of life, teaching us so much about God’s plans and intentions for us today. Above all, it teaches about God’s good heart towards us and his desire that we walk in his ways, paying heed to his words to us and taking them to heart. For they are not just idle words to you, they are your life! (Deut 32.47)

"My wife Sarah and I have been studying at The Way of the Spirit's part-time evening course for four weeks now and it's been a thoroughly joyful experience - Deuteronomy has come alive in all its glory.  I would recommend the Way of the Spirit to anyone who is looking to develop a greater understanding of the Bible and to grow spiritually." Ian

"These Thursday evenings have made a real impact upon me.  They have opened up my understanding of the Father God and I am better able to trust Him. The other students are very friendly.  Thank you Richard and team." Kevin

WOTSFramHall420The second module currently available for part-timers is Wednesday mornings, 9.30am-1pm when students have been thinking in some depth about the word of God, and also looking at some New Testament letters. All in a most practical way, yet with enriching depth of insight and anointing. Three of the Wednesday students write:

"As I’m not able to do a full-time course, I am delighted to be able to join the full-time students one morning a week to receive anointed teaching, impacting my life and changing me as I receive revelation of God’s word so that I can share with others the life God gives."

"The teaching is broadening my understanding of the bible and impacting my life and teaching."

"The teaching is like eating a piece of highly nutritious sirloin steak. You have to chew on it and enjoy every minute to appreciate the flavour, aroma and abundance of good inside it. It really is solid food, not watered down, but straight from scripture. Every part is nourishing."

So many Christians want to know more about the bible, but have little interest in pursuing an academic, intellectual approach to biblical studies. With an appetite for substantial and engaging teaching, that brings alive the text of the bible (even some of the more challenging Old Testament books), it can be difficult to find the right thing.  The Way of the Spirit has a different approach, what John McKay, who wrote The Way of the Spirit bible reading course, called a third way.

WOTSStudentsThu420Now, ten years after John’s death, the course is used in many different places worldwide and has  been instrumental in bringing the bible alive for many people, and frequently equipping them to then go and share the life they’ve found, one way or another, with others.
