Puppet training offered at N Walsham church
North Walsham Methodist Church will be hosting a Puppet Training Day later this month, and anyone with an interest in puppets is welcome to attend.
The day will run from 10am until 4pm on Saturday January 21, and will be a mixture of theory and practice. It is run by One Way UK, which is an inter-denominational children's ministry, specialising in equipping and training children's and youth workers.
"This should be an exciting day,” said organiser Anne Russen. “There will be a lot of 'Hands On' activities, so please come prepared to join in.”
One Way UK holds more than 40 Puppet Training Days and Festivals throughout the UK and Europe each year. These are a combination of puppet and creative arts workshops, performances and competitions designed to teach, challenge and equip the puppeteer (beginner or advanced), school teachers, children's/youth workers and leaders for continued and effective ministry.
This training day includes basic and some advanced puppet manipulation skills, how to start a puppet ministry (including, finances, equipment, recruiting etc), props and scenery, with performances and demonstrations throughout the day to give you plenty of starting ideas.
It is suitable for adults and young people (over 10, unless in a puppet team), schools workers, church leaders, Sunday school teachers, youth/children's workers, and, of course, puppet team leaders and members. Resources will be available to purchase, and One Way UK will bring specific items on request.
Refreshments will be available but participants should bring a packed lunch and a puppet if they have one. If not, practice puppets will be available.
The fee is £17.50 per person. Registration starts at 9.30am.
Venue: North Walsham Methodist Church Grammar School Road North Walsham Norfolk NR28 9JH
