RC Bishop to be buried in Norwich Cathedral

BishopMichaelEvans370The ashes of East Anglia’s Roman Catholic Bishop, who lost his six-year battle against prostate cancer last year, will be buried this month at a ceremony in Norwich.
The Rt Rev Michael Evans died in July last year, aged 59 and his funeral last summer saw more than 1,700 people attend St John’s Cathedral.

The interment of his ashes will be held at a ceremony at the Earlham Road cathedral on Saturday, January 21 at noon. Members of the public are invited to attend and hundreds are expected to attend the simple service, including clergy and laity from across the diocese.

Father James Walsh, cathedral dean, said: “It’s bringing to a close Bishop Michael’s time here. His funeral took place in July and it is very appropriate for the burial to take place in the cathedral he loved, cherished and supported.”
