Celebrate brings Christian theatre to Norfolk

RoughShodTakeTheWorld3502012: The acclaimed Christian Riding Lights’ Roughshod theatre company will be bringing some revolutionary performances to Norfolk schools, prisons, churches, youth events and the Celebrate Norwich & Norfolk weekend in late May and early June.

From May 29 to June 8, Roughshod will be in Norfolk schools, churches and prisons, doing workshops and assemblies and performing Take The World. From June 8-9 they will be part of the Celebrate event based around the Forum in Norwich city centre.

Riding Lights Roughshod are well-known for taking their unique brand of high-energy performance with a spiritual edge to all kinds of places where live theatre is rare but greatly enjoyed. Riding Lights is one of the UK's most successful independent theatre companies, internationally renowned from more than 30 years of touring productions.

Roughshod381Celebrate Norfolk has booked the theatre company for two full weeks from May 29 and are offering their services to schools, churches and prisons across Norfolk. The fortnight will culminate with several performances at the flagship Celebrate event in Norwich city centre, including one at the Celebrate Youth Event on Saturday June 9. The full event line-up and ticket details will be released on this website next week.

Roughshod can offer a variety of services to schools, including assemblies, form times, workshops and workshop performances. All relate to the National Curriculum and are aimed at High School years 7 to 11 and Key Stages 3 and 4.

Roughshod can also be booked to perform Take The World by churches and youth groups.

The performance is billed as a thumping mix of physical theatre, comedy, music and story-telling. On a beautiful, crazed, spinning planet, seven billion are people making sense of it all. Ideas, opinions, disappointments and dreams compete while lives are lived and everyday miracles are missed. The show takes true and contemporary stories, including those from the actors themselves, alongside hair-raising history and powerful parables.

Roughshod community companies have been delighting audiences all over the UK since 1992, performing in schools, colleges, prisons, churches, as well as less conventional venues. Roughshod is a dynamic, young company, which annually reaches a live audience of some 70,000 adults and young people.
