Until recently the name of Joseph Hall, appointed Bishop of Norwich in 1641 by King Charles I, had been forgotten about. His memory had been lost in the mist of time.
 
That was until David Berwick, a guide at Norwich Cathedral, started investigating his remarkable and colourful life. The more he discovered about the mysterious bishop the more he wanted to know.

USA choir finds its Norfolk roots

 
A choir from America paid a visit to a quartet of Norfolk and Suffolk churches that have inspired the design of their place of worship in Indianapolis.
 
The 50-strong members of the Trinity Episcopal Church were the guest choir at Norwich Cathedral on their summer tour of the UK.
 
While in the area they visited churches in Palgrave, South Burlingham, Ranworth, and Ufford, whose design features were incorporate into a new parish church built in Indianapolis in the 1950s.
 
Michael Messina, choirmaster of the Indianapolis church, said “it is great to see our roots” and presented the church wardens with a drawing of their church back home.

£10k milestone for St Helen’s Costessey

 
A Norwich church is celebrating after reaching the £10,000 mark in its appeal for £40,000 to repair its leaking roof.
 
St Helen’s in Costessey needs the money to repair the roof of its church hall on Gurney Road and has raised the first £10,000 through grants, church fairs and table top sales with a fundraising day planned for September to mark the hall’s fortieth birthday.
