Ex-soccer star talks of life and death

MikeTindall2006: Former professional footballer and England Under-18 player Mike Tindall has talked about his life and Christian faith in Norfolk.

You can hear the story of the boy wonder who, at the age of 18, achieved his dream of getting into the Aston Villa first team where he stayed for 14 years. He also represented his country, playing ten times for the England under 18 team.

Mike will be telling his story at the Norwich Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International dinner at the Quality Hotel, Bowthorpe at 7pm on Friday February 3. He will also be speaking at a Men’s Breakfast, organised by Mulbarton Parish Church from 8 to 9.30am on Saturday February 4.

Mike married Thora and they had three boys. He travelled the world playing football. Life was fantastic.

After his football career ended Mike bought a pub which kept him happy as well. Then in 1984, Thora became a Christian and started to tell Mike he needed to be born again.

Three years later Mike went to church for the first time. Hiding in the back pew, terrified that someone might see him, he had a vision of Jesus on the cross. Overnight he became an evangelist, telling his customers they needed a different Spirit which was not popular.
Mike will tell his audience whether he believes that the famous quote by ex-Liverpool manager Bill Shankly is true or not: “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I can assure them it is much more serious than that."

The FGBMFI dinner at the Quality Hotel, Bowthorpe, 7 for 7.30 pm, costs  £12. Reservations: Robert Osborne 01603 782432 or e-mail: robert@rosborne.freeserve.co.uk  or cant.cherrytrees@tesco.net
