Pregnancy Choices Norfolk offers support
Pregnancy Choices Norfolk exists to:
Offer confidential counselling and caring support to anyone in distress due to a crisis pregnancy, or following pregnancy loss
Promote understanding of the issues surrounding crisis pregnancies and abortion
Provide information to enable young people to make healthy lifestyle choices
Ethos
Our Christian faith inspires our work. It lies at the heart of our motivation and effectiveness as care providers. It also enables us to help those clients who request it to explore their situation from a spiritual dimension.
Background
Pregnancy Choices Norfolk (PCN), was the vision of several local Christians working in medicine, counselling and other fields, who wanted to offer information and support to women, teenagers and their partners who were facing an unplanned or difficult pregnancy or who needed support following a pregnancy loss or infant death.
Recognising that abortion is a controversial issue that can provoke strong reactions, our purpose is to avoid the pro-life and pro-abortion extremism and offer compassion, information and practical support at the point of need.
All PCN volunteer counsellors complete an accredited training course, and adhere to a code of ethics and conduct. PCN manages five centres across Norfolk and has close connections with a further two. Extra sessions are held in colleges and community centres. PCN ultimately hopes to provide a pregnancy crisis service within 10 miles of anyone who may need it.
PCN is affiliated to Care Centres Network, a national charity that provides training and advice for over 150 pregnancy crisis centres across the UK. PCN provides counsellors for CAREconfidential, a national pregnancy crisis helpline. PCN’s education team, in:sight, offers support to teachers and young people in sex and relationships education.
