Walk and tea to support Norwich charity

The Magdalene Group has been working in the field of sexual exploitation for twenty years, they offer a variety of front-line projects aimed at raising awareness and preventing the sexual exploitation and coercion of women and young people. Over the coming weeks there are two opportunities to join the Magdalene Group, help raise funds for the work they complete, and celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Now in its 14th year, the annual Spring Charity Walk is organised  by the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth with support of Norwich Centenary Rotary Club takes place on Sunday May 10, 2015.

Starting and finishing at Acle Recreation Centre there is a choice of two walks, 5.7 miles and 9.9 miles, maps and directions are provided and there are marshall points all along the routes, refreshments, toilets and first-aid facilities are available at the start and finish point, where there is also plenty of parking.

Lynda O’Keefe of the Magdalene Group said ‘if you enjoy walking through beautiful East Anglian countryside along footpaths and bridleways, this is the walk for you. Both distances include stretches of riverside presenting an ideal opportunity for you to see some of the wildlife of the area with its varied flora and fauna. Both routes are by fields and grazing meadows offering views of some of the Broadlands most iconic structures and many medieval churches.”

12.5% of the total sponsorship/donated monies going to the Rotary Club of Great Yarmouth Benevolent Account (Charity No 297100).

Sign up is £5 per person, children under 14yrs are free. Open to all, well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.

With live music from Norwich School, guest speaker Matilda Ziegler and a luxury auction and raffle, come along to The Bishop’s Garden for Tea in the Marquee.

Tuesday June 16, 2015 from 6-8pm (garden open from 5pm), entry by ticket only £20 per person from the Magdalene Group
