Bishop's garden welcomes many visitors

bishops garden 9 2015

The garden was a picture - so green and fresh.  The visitors came in great numbers despite the clouds and the cool air

Barry Capon, Chairman of the Board of Management, said "We were so lucky that there was no rain. Our two choirs- from County Hall and the Anglian Singers were tremendous, and the afternoon finished in style with a range of pops songs from the Rocking Bishop of Lynn, Bishop Jonathan Meyrick, with Bishop Graham and Mrs James in the audience enjoying the show.  We are deeply indebted to Bishop Graham for giving us the use of his House Garden for the afternoon, and for the great help from his gardener, Simon, who helped and guided us throughout the planning and the day itself"

bishops garden 7 2015"The tea and cakes were a sell-out, all the cakes on the cake stall sold, the tombola was busy all afternoon and the books made a good sum"

"I am so grateful to all the many, many people who worked so hard to make this the success it was.  The stall holders, the choirs, the cake makers, the Sea Cadets who helped in every way, the tea and cakes team including the 'cathedral ladies' who did so much work in the kitchen, those who gave us so much publicity which is vital for a such an event, the four chaplains who are what makes our charity effective and worthwhile, and to all the visitors who came to spend and to enjoy"

bishops garden 6 2015Treasurer, Andrew Rouse, reports £2594.80 taken on the day, which will be boosted by Gift Aid and said “Many thanks to all the helpers and volunteers for the tremendous effort you all put in. This amount of money would not have been raised without your time and energy displayed - both seen and unseen, and not just on the day!  Well done everybody! And please let all your friends and family who were involved in any way know how grateful we are for their help and support”

The number of people attending on the day is estimated at around 380 to 400
