Matthew accredited to give financial advice for later life

Norfolk-based wealth management consultant Matthew Newton, of Matthew Newton Wealth Management Ltd, has successfully achieved independent accreditation from The Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA), endorsing his competence in advising people on later life matters.

LaterLifeStock480SOLLA was founded in 2008 as a not for profit organisation to meet the needs of consumers, advisers and those who provide financial products and services to the later life market.  Their aim is to ensure that consumers are better informed about the financial issues of later life and that they can find a fully accredited adviser quickly and easily - Read more.

SOLLA ensures that the advisers have fully satisfied all of their criteria to become one of their fully accredited members.  As the only kite mark of its kind in the industry and currently only held by a select number of individuals in the UK, such accredited advisers are aware and most importantly understand, that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution when planning financially for later life.  This means that the advice people are given is from financial advisers who have proved they have specialist knowledge of this sector.

Now more than ever what is needed is not simply a well qualified financial adviser, but an adviser who people feel they can rely upon to understand their plans for their retirement years.  The complexities of the many decisions they and their families may need to make, when looking at care funding issues, will need careful and considered advice too.  SOLLA links people with an adviser who can help them explore the solutions that work for them and their families.

Financial advice should take people to the stage where they are able to make clear and informed decisions, happy in the knowledge that they have had the information and choices presented to them to help them reach an informed decision.

The society links those who need advice to an accredited Later Life Adviser who can advise on:
  • Equity release (For the features and risks associated with a Lifetime Mortgage ask for a personalised illustration)
  • Long term care funding
  • Pensions and annuities
  • Investment Planning and savings
  • Tax planning (IHT)
Later Life Advisers specialise in the financial needs of older people.  Professional qualifications, whilst essential, rarely give a full picture of an adviser’s expertise.  Those advisers who have taken the further steps to become independently accredited, can offer the added reassurance that they can provide the practical help and guidance needed to help consumers make the right decisions at the right time.  Why would anyone choose an adviser offering anything less?

The Later Life Adviser Accreditation Scheme is independently audited and endorsed by the Government Body, the Financial Services Skills and Legal Partnership Council (FSLP) and was developed in collaboration with the specialist financial services consultancy SVARfair.  All members need to re-license their accreditation annually, evidencing their continued development and knowledge.
