Norfolk Christian Awards make county headlines
The Norfolk Christian Digital Communications Awards have been making headlines across the county.
Coverage of last week’s awards event make full page leads in today’s (November 16) Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News newspapers.
A feature was also broadcast on the Radio Norfolk Sunday Breakfast Show yesterday, recorded by presenter Anthony Isaacs at the event itself. Start listening at 2.43 hours.
“It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I really appreciated the very warm welcome I was given,” said Anthony.
Bishop of Norwich, Rt Rev Graham James, who presented the awards, told Radio Norfolk: “One of the things tonight’s awards have shown is how innovative our churches large and small have been in using social media, websites, blogs, all the different ways of engaging not just with the younger generation but with all of us because there are plenty of silver surfers out there as well.
“It is wonderful to realise that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is pervading digital media because there is enough bad stuff in it that we need to make certain that there is much about the light and love that comes through the Gospel.”
Meanwhile reaction has been coming in from award winners and awards attendees.
Jason Baldry, the man behind the successful St Thomas Norwich church website, said: “It is really nice to be recognised. There are so many great people doing fantastic digital media work in Norwich.
“The key to engagement with young people: is being modern and of our time. Following what business is now doing, but making it about the church, helps to keep it working for everyone.”
The St Thomas website also took a national Christian digital title at the Premier awards on Saturday night, for the second year running.
Blog finalist, Barrie Lawrence, said: “What a great evening yesterday. And what a great competition, raising the profiles of so many ministries, churches, organisations, individuals et al. I feel it was an outstanding success.”
Fellow blog finalist, Ruth Tong, tweeted: “Wonderful evening @networknorfolk awards night last night - thanks to all involved who worked so hard to bring it all together!
Director of Celebrate Norfolk, John Betts, said: “Congratulations Keith and the team. An excellent evening and a comment on ten years’ inspired work for the Kingdom of God. Well done.”
Adam Johannes, from sponsors Church Insight, said: “Well done on a great event last night. We really enjoyed ourselves and were pleased to be a part of the event. I thought you guys did a terrific job and we prayed for you all in our morning coffee/prayer time for you all and Network Norfolk.”
