Norfolk churches join in prayers for Paris

Churches and Christians across Norfolk have said prayers for Paris and the victims of the terrorist attacks which took place on Friday night in restaurants, a concert hall and at the Stade de France national stadium.

"Our hearts are with Paris and all those who live under or experience the regimes of terror. We pray for you," said Proclaimers on Facebook.

Mothers' Union in Norwich prayed: “Loving Lord, we lift the people of Paris before you in this time of fear and distress. We pray for those who have lost loved ones, for those who are injured and for those who will bare the emotional scars forever. Comfort them in their grief and pain, for their lives will never be the same.

“We give thanks for the speedy response of the emergency services and the armed forces, who tended the wounded and rescued the captive. We pray for the French Security service and Government as they try to piece information together, that they would make wise decisions rather than reactionary ones.

“Bless us all with the knowledge that we are secure in your love and may peace reign in our hearts, always. Amen

Anglican, Quaker, and Franciscan, Rev Philip Young, said: “I urge people to pray for the victims of terrorism in Paris and other places. Pray for peace. Love is strong. Love is beautiful. Pray that love will flourish. Pray that we will all become peacemakers.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the terrorism in Paris tonight,” tweeted Norfolk Christian Police Association.

“Horrendous events unfolding, let us pray for peace, wisdom and comfort, said Aylsham Parish Church on Facebook.

Rev Sam Abramian of Union Church in Hunstanton, said: “Our hearts and prayers and thoughts go out to everybody who has been affected by the tragedy.”

City Hall in Norwich was lit up in the blue, white and red of the French Tricolor as a mark of solidarity with France.
