Ex-minister returns to Norwich in new role

JohnHindmarshWeb2006: Former Norwich church minister John Hindmarsh is back in the city after 18 months in Yorkshire with a new role, combining his established and recognised role as a Bible teacher, preacher and mentor with work as a qualified Will Writer and Estate Planner.

John, together with wife Angie, led Living Word Church in Norwich for over six years, although they had been in Norwich for 10 years prior to that as Directors on the leadership team of Proclaimers International based at Drayton Hall.  They have been in Christian ministry for over 35 years in total.

For the past 18 months, the couple have been involved with the 2,500-strong Abundant Life Church in Bradford, during which time John also trained and then qualified as a professional Will Writer and Estate Planner. Angie worked as a brand manager for Ardent Products and continues to do so.

Now John is back in Norwich using his new skills, as a consultant with one of the largest financial advice groups in East Anglia: financial advisers Insight, based in Norwich and Will writers Foresight, based in Northampton.

“I am enjoying merging business and my ministry role together,” said John. “I have found that it brings a new and different level of credibility and integrity to the relevance of the Gospel. A lot of people are involved in a portfolio of working roles today and I find that they both help and enhance each other.

“At the age of 55, I am myself facing new possibilities and potential and can now help and advise other people who are in similar situations."

“As a professionally qualified member of the Institute of Professional Will Writers, I know that there are a lot of people who have not made Wills, almost 70% actually, and over 30% of the population now face Inheritance Tax on their estates when they die. Not having a Will creates a lot of totally unnecessary legal costs and problems for the family to sort out that can so easily be avoided at such a crucial time."

John continued: "I'm also able to help with other legal documents that protect the home if ever long term care is needed - about 70,000 homes a year are lost to that alone. I also produce other legal documents that make sure the family's finances are protected if ever there is incapacity through illness, accident or old age.

“I am getting a sense of satisfaction in helping people to achieve security in this area of their lives as well as still enjoying seeing people's lives changed and growing in my role as a Christian communicator.”

John offers free consultations for Will writing and estate planning and can provide connections for pensions, insurance, investments and mortgages through the company he is with.

Angie and John are now worshipping at King’s Community Church in Norwich and enjoying renewing connections with people and places in Norfolk as well as enjoying new opportunities for ministry that are increasingly opening up in the area, nationally and abroad.
