Bands in outdoor Gospel concert

GospelOnTheGreen05A group of Suffolk churches staged a Gospel on the Green outreach event at Beyton School near Bury St Edmunds featuring Christian bands and former kung-fu world champion Tony Anthony on July 8.

Four Christian Gospel bands performed from 4pm including Stuart Menzies-Farrant from Bradford (Gem Awards nominee), Niki Rogers, Julie Hall and Quatuor Yimbila (Congolese Quartet)

At around 8.30pm Tony Anthony told his amazing story contained in the book Taming the Tiger. Organiser Andy Rollett said, “We’ve invited Tony Anthony to speak at this year’s event, because we believe the message of Tony’s life is so powerful and we would love people to have the opportunity to hear it. It’s going to be a great evening.”

“The Gospel on the Green event started in 2005 as an attempt to outreach into the local community, by All Saints Church in Beyton. We wanted to show how beautiful and varied Gospel music was and how Christians can have fun and let their hair down. This year the event is being organised by a larger body of people, drawn from a number of the local churches, but all with the vision of taking the Good News of the Gospel out to the people, rather than expecting them to come into our churches first. “
