The Pawseys and the Nundys
New Senior Pastor ordained at Watton church

On Saturday evening Watton Pentecostal Church in Mid Norfolk held an Ordination Service for their new Senior Pastor Nick Nundy, who has come into church leadership following a career serving in finance roles for Christian organisations in Norfolk. Jenny Seal reports.

Watton Mayor and Mayoress2On Saturday, May 13 at 7pm the former Senior Pastor of Watton Pentecostal Church, Rev Roger Pawsey officiated an Ordination Service for Nick Nundy in front of a packed congregation which included friends, church members, local church ministers and the Mayor of Watton Cllr Stan Hebborn and Mayoress Cllr Susan Hebborn (pictured right).

Alongside his wife Flora, Nick took up the role of church leadership on January 1st and is now ordained as Senior Pastor of the church, taking over from the previous Senior Pastor Roger Pawsey.

Nick, who is a qualified accountant, also works three days a week for Norwich based Christian charity Care for Children as Group Finance Manager and formerly worked for YMCA Norfolk for over 11 years latterly as their Corporate Support Director.

The journey from accountancy to pastor began when Nick was a teenager.  He said: “For many years I had a desire, even from the age of 18 that I wanted to go into full time ministry.  I’ve worked for Christian charities but always in an accountancy role.  That was fulfilling because of the work the charities were doing.

“I had a desire to serve God in a full-time ministry role for many years, but I didn’t think I necessarily had the abilities that were needed to be a pastor even though I may have had the heart for it.  But when I heard that Watton Pentecostal Church were looking for a Pastor I prayed about it and a few days later I said I’d be interested in applying for the role.  And I’m pleased to say that the church leadership team offered me the position in October last year.”

Nick will join the Team of Pastors of Roger and Tina Pawsey and Graham Thomas.

He said: “I really love the church and the people in the church.”  Nick and Flora previously worshipped at Eternity Church in Norwich, where in the past Nick has served on the leadership team.  However the couple had already built strong relationships with members of Watton Pentecostal Church through their involvement with the TFG (Together for God) ministry.

Nick explains: “Between the years of 2000 and 2012 Watton Pentecostal Church oversaw a group called TFG (Together for God) and each year there was one short mission trip to India for two or three weeks.  The leader was Roger Pawsey and the group was made up from several churches.  Of the twelve trips in total, I attended six, many with my wife Flora.  We got to know many of the people from Watton Penetcostal Church through those trips.”

Nick along with the leadership team of Watton Pentecostal Church is currently working on the vision for the church.  In principle he says: “It is to show God’s love to the local community and to see the personal care and development and spiritual development of our church members.”
