Mental health discussed at Norwich Cathedral event

Hearing VoicesCathedralCF

Norwich Cathedral is hosting an event for those living with mental health issues on Wednesday July 5 where people are invited to share their stories.

If you have ever struggled with mental health issues or seen the struggles of those you care for or support then this event is for you. A time to explore the What, Who, How and Why of coping

  • What helps your recovery? What has hindered your recovery?
  • Who has been there for you? Who has let you down?
  • How have you coped? Why have you struggled?

The afternoon will be a forum for you to share your experiences, views, ideas suggestions, and the service providers will there to listen and learn. By hearing the voices of those living with mental health issues our hope is to make communities more recovery friendly.

Former Norwich City Player Cedric Anselin will speak about his experience living with depression and Jonny Benjamin who was about to take his life on Waterloo Bridge when a stranger on the bridge, Neil Laybourn, stopped him.  They will be speaking about how that encounter changed them both and has turned them both into ambassadors for mental health.

The afternoon will facilitated by Robert Ashton, Social entrepreneur, business author, campaigner and Vice Patron of Norfolk Community Foundation.

Come and hear the stories of others and share your own story. This event is free and open to all experiencing mental health difficulties and those trying to support and help them.

Wednesday 5th July 2.00-4.30pm in the Weston Room, Norwich Cathedral
