Norwich youth team 'hoofs it to Hopton' to raise funds

The Norwich Youth for Christ team embarked on an incredible 84-mile walk along the entire Norfolk Coastal Path in three days to raise almost £3,000 for their schools work.

The challenge was made even more difficult due to the searing 30 degree temperatures - as the walk took place on the hottest consecutive days of the year! The team started in Hunstanton and walked along the path through Wells, Sheringham, Happisburgh, Winterton, Great Yarmouth and finally Hopton.

The team clocked up a huge number of miles between them, as well as numerous painful blisters! Director Nick Blanch completed the walk along with Joe Savory and Owen Davies and six more of the team completed major stints of the journey, spurred on by thought of money raised for the charity. Supporters of Norwich Youth for Christ were asked to sponsor the team; the aim was to raise £3000 to go towards the charity's Boost project, which supports young people who struggle in mainstream school to stay engaged with education and avoid exclusion. The money will be used to purchase new computers and also refurbish the project room.

Nick said, "We had some fantastic challenges set by young people including walking backwards, singing in our conversations and dancing while we walked. We even came up with an anthem as we walked, the now-infamous “I’m gonna hoof it to Hopton…” song which has even had some airtime on Radio Norfolk! Be warned, once you listen, you may find it difficult to get it out of your head!"

Photos and videos of the challenges filmed along the way can be viewed here: www.norwichyfc.co.uk/hoofit

The team have reached 75% of their target - and it is not too late to sponsor them. If you would like to sponsor the team, please do so here:  www.give.net/nick84milewalk
