Norfolk Christian project's 'pop up' summer activities

During the summer holidays ENYP and Wymondham Youth Bus partnered together to deliver a range of youth work, ‘pop up’ provision and engagement opportunities in locations across the county.

Over the course of the week the teams engaged with several hundreds of people in the local areas, providing an opportunity to build relationships and develop local provision in the areas.

The Rev Danny Doran-Smith, Director of ENYP and Chair of Trustees for Wymondham Youth Bus, said, “This summer, we were able to take our youth provision on the road, and during the course of a week delivered in six locations across the county and engaged with local communities. A number of these locations were new, and in partnership with Norfolk Police we are also discussing how best to meet the needs of these areas in the future.”

Young people and communities gave really positive feedback about the provision and what was offered, and this gives us a good foundation for developing the work in the future.

The Wymondham Youth Bus is a double decker bus offering a unique facility for youth and community engagement projects, creating a visual presence in communities and providing a welcoming space for activities to be delivered from. Teaming up with the Youth Team from ENYP the two charities were able to deliver a range of activities and give out free food to young people and families.

PC Jamie Willetts, from Norfolk Constabulary, shared “It is important for children to have facilities and places they can go to in the local community for support and worthwhile diversion from crime and anti-social behaviour.  Norfolk Police proudly worked with ENYP, as well as Smith and Pinching, at a pilot location.  The Youth Bus event was a great success with a number of young people and adults visiting on the evening.  We thank our partners for their efforts in putting this together and we hope to work with them further.”
