Community justice was Lent course subject

NorwichPrisonWebCommunity Justice was the topic of the six-week Norwich Central Churches Together 2007 Lent course .

What is Crime?, Models of Justice, Punishment and Rehabilitation and Recovery were some of the topics for the course which was led by magistrate, social psychologist and chair of NCCT, John Myhill.

“The objectives of this course are: to grow ecumenically by sharing our diverse understanding of the Easter story.; to grow personally by relating the Bible texts to our own experiences of Crime and Community; and to grow a community who can share a Christian understanding of Justice,” explained John.

John sits on a national crime and community justice committee and also works in a hostel for the homeless.

The course was held at the Mancroft Rooms, St Peter Mancroft, Hay Hill, NR2 1QZ, hosted by Janet Wyer and each session will last a couple of hours with a coffee break.

“The course is free to any member of an NCCT congregation and we hope to have a representative of each, for a truly ecumenical experience,” said John. “We hope you will be able to attend all six mornings.”
