Two Christian bands in Norwich gig

SpokenGroovePeterPaulWebMAY 07
City Church and Norwich School of Art Christian Union joined forces to bring Christian bands Spoken Groove and The Gentlemen to Norwich on May 17.

Spoken Groove are described as “unfettered energy and rock ‘n’ roll innovation” produced by Peter Nevland and virtuoso guitarist Paul Finley. With a style and ability to inspire audiences reminiscent of the way Bob Dylan and Jack Kerouac exploded from the beat generation of the late 60s, they’ve created an entirely new musical genre.

They’ve completed countless tours across the USA, Canada, England, Germany and Australia.

The Gentlemen have been spreading their charms in the North of England for nearly two years. Their unique blend of upbeat indie and funk with occasional jazz piano has been hailed by old and young alike.

TheGentlemenWebThe overall feel of this band is that they are willing, and indeed keen, to try anything and everything in order to achieve their own personal, exciting and intimate sound.

Organiser Lydia Gibbons said: “I saw Spoken Groove at Momentum Festival, and completely fell in love with their music. The band has creative energy, skill, eloquence, and a wonderful raw honesty that is truly unique. Their talent and outstanding show made me want to share them with more people and I’m glad to say, they are coming to Norwich.

“We would appreciate support from anybody who’d be interested or might know somebody interested because these guys have come a long way to be here and aren’t one’s to be missed!”

The concert took place on May 17 at The City Gates Centre 33 Cowgate
