On course for a happier marriage

SEPTEMBER 2007:  It is one of the fastest growing relationship courses in the world with over 1,800 courses in 50 countries.  In Britain there are 600 courses and 40,000 couples have completed it.  In April Radio 2’s Chris Evans recommended it strongly in an interview with the course co-founder, Nicky Lee.  What is it?  It’s called The Marriage Course and its aim is to build healthy marriages that last a lifetime.

Who is it for?  It is for any married couple.  It doesn’t matter if you’ve been married for two months or thirty two years.  If you have a strong marriage this course will help you make it even better and will reinforce your good habits.  If on the other hand your marriage has some problems, the course will provide you with very practical tools to help you work through the issues.

Each evening focuses on a key area of marriage such as how to show love, the power of forgiveness and effective communication.  The teaching is on DVD projected on a large screen and is in bite sized pieces with plenty of time to discuss the issues raised with your partner.

So why not join the growing number of couples strengthening their marriages?  We are running the next course in this area on seven Wednesdays starting on 12 September 2007 at Witard Road Baptist Church.  Each evening starts at 7pm and the cost of the course is £50 per couple which includes supper and all course materials.

Registration forms and further details can be obtained from Duncan & Janice MacInnes, telephone 01603 431059 or email janicemacinnes@hotmail.co.uk

Marriage Preparation Courses are also run at various times throughout the year, please call for details of the next one.

My wife and I did this course a couple of years ago and it was really very helpful. Some of the material was familiar, and it was challenging in places, but what was best was the chance each week to have the time and space to talk and discuss important things and events in our marriage. The food was good, too, and eating out for seven weeks for £50 with no washing up - excellent value!

Highly recommended.
