Ex-Cabinet minister Clarke faces CSM questions
Former Home Secretary and Norwich MP Charles Clarke faced questions from the Norfolk and Norwich group of the Christian Socialist Movement on July 13, 2007, in the city.
Norwich CSM organizer Gail Stanley said: “We are extremely pleased that Charles Clarke has accepted our invitation to speak about his experiences of being both a Cabinet minister and a local MP. "
The location is the Christchurch Centre on Magdalen Road (near the junction with St Clements Hill and Constitiution Hill). Some off road parking is available.
The CSM nationally aims to be a Christian voice to the Labour Party, contributing to policy forums and debates. It has formed Christians in Politics (CiP) jointly with the recognised Christian groups within the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Parties to encourage Christians in general to take part in local and national government. This includes raising awareness and encouraging people to see how they can serve others through politics, from using their vote through to becoming a local councillor or even an MP. The local CSM group in Norfolk and Norwich concentrates on arranging general interest events much in line with the objectives of “Christians in Politics”.
New members to the local group are always welcome and can be added to a mailing list for local events. For more local details contact: gailstanley@btinternet.com
