Evangelist and FGB founder speaks at lunch

JohnWrightJune072007: John Wright, evangelist and founding director of the FGBMFI in the UK was the speaker at the lunch organised by the Norwich Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship at the Maids Head Hotel, Norwich, on Thursday July 19, at 1pm.

Well-known Norfolk evangelist John Wright recently became the first person from the Norwich Diocese to be admitted to the College of Evangelists.

John was the sixth generation of his family to manage the Butterley Company Limited, an engineering and brick making business founded in 1790 in Derbyshire. He was educated at Winchester and Christ Church, Oxford and received his business training at Price Waterhouse and the Harvard Business School. As a bachelor of 32 with an E-Type Jaguar it seemed as if a brilliant career lay before him!

At this point he had a dramatic conversion experience, then his businesses collapsed, he went through the desert experience of two years unemployment, he had cancer and finally the undeserved humiliation of prison.

John is married to Sue and they live near Norwich where John is a Lay Reader in the Church of England. He is also the non-executive Chairman of a Massey Ferguson Agricultural Machinery dealership. They have four sons and a daughter, all of whom are on fire for God.

John is a founder Director of FGBMFI in UK; he has been a Director of Reckitt & Colman Food Division; he has founded a Merchant Bank in Norwich in obedience to the Holy Spirit despite having neither money nor any knowledge of Banking ! He was also the Founder of the St Matthews Society which now provides housing for the homeless in over 80 houses throughout East Anglia.

At the lunch, John talked about his work and his faith as part of the regular series of Norwich FGBMFI monthly events held at the Maid’s Head Hotel on Tombland in the centre of Norwich.

The lunches (from 1-2pm) are aimed largely at people who work in the city and are designed to fit in a standard lunch hour with a half-hour meal followed by a 30-minute talk.

The cost to attend the lunch is £6 and all are welcome.
