£1000 grants offer for Norwich groups
Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary Services (NVS) in conjunction with Norwich City Council has developed a small grant fund for voluntary and community groups based in Norwich’s Neighbourhood Renewal Fund areas (NRF).
The grant is administered by NVS and the grants panel will include representatives from NVS, Norwich City Council and the Norwich Third Sector Forum – a new initiative by NVS to empower and enable third sector organisations in Norwich to engage with the statutory sector and influence service delivery.
Alistair Winch, employed by NVS as co-ordinator for the Norwich Third Sector Forum said: “I’m very pleased that Norwich City Council supported NVS’ application for a small grant fund to help the work of grass roots voluntary and community groups in Norwich’s NRF wards. The Norwich Third Sector Forum small grant fund is a most welcome opportunity for groups to benefit directly from Neighbourhood Renewal Funding.”
The fund will provide grants of up to £1000 to voluntary and community groups with an annual turnover of £60,000 or less. Groups must be based in one of the NRF wards Catton, Sewell, Mancroft, Thorpe Hamlet, Crome, Mile Cross, Bowthorpe and Wensum.
The Norwich Third Sector Forum is open to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups and organisations based or working in Norwich. The Forum’s next free to attend networking event is on 27 September 2007, 10am to 1pm, at The Assembly House, Norwich. The event will feature Megan Griffith from the National Council of Voluntary Organisations speaking about, what our funding will look like in five years.
Further event details and a booking form are available from www.nvs.org.uk/ourfuture.php . Alternatively call Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary services on 01603 883805.
Elections for the Forum’s steering committee will also take place on the 27 September and nominations are invited from any third sector organisation based or working in Norwich. You can find further information about the Forum and nomination forms at www.nvs.org.uk/ourfuture.php .
