Scripture Union promotes childrens app at Norfolk Show

Representatives from Scripture Union were at the recent Royal Norfolk Show promoting their world class digital game “Guardians of Ancora”. Network Norfolk spoke to them to find out more. Tony Rothe reports.

Guardians of Ancora opens up an amazing virtual world that 8 to 11-year-olds can enter, and a place where the Bible stories come alive. SU has a vision that, by 2020, 20 million children worldwide will have daily opportunities to discover Jesus and engage with the Bible through Guardians of Ancora.

Participants can enter the wonderful world of Ancora, and play their way through exciting Bible Quests bringing bible stories to life, test their knowledge by taking quizzes on the Bible Quests they've completed, listen to the Bible stories, and watch videos. New Quests are added every month, and new videos appear each week.

Simon Barker and Clare Luxton from Scripture Union, pictured above, were demonstrating the game in the Diocese of Norwich marquee at the Royal Norfolk Show. “We are running a free schools club programme whereby people can run a six-week “Guardians of Ancora” club at their local primary school” explained Simon. “Anyone wanting support to do this can visit: http://www.scriptureunion.org.uk/schools.”

SU is also looking to partner with local churches and with Youth for Christ to encourage them to use the game in their ministry, but also to support them in promoting the game in local primary schools.

“The great thing is that Guardians of Ancora is totally free to download” said Simon “and we really believe that this is the start of something much bigger”.
