The Archdeacon’s Charge around Sandringham

ArchdeaconsCharge376In the year of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Diocese of Norwich annual fundraiser, the Archdeacon’s Charge, will take place in the private part of the Sandringham Estate.

The Archdeacon’s Charge is a sponsored walk or run of up to 10 miles to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Anglican parish churches in Norfolk.   The event began in 2010 and has since raised a total of over £23,000 for both causes.

The fundraiser, which is open to all, will take place on Easter Monday 9 April starting at 11am.   It is the initiative of the Archdeacon of Lynn, the Ven John Ashe, whose wife, Shelagh was saved by the Air Ambulance service following a car crash on the A1067 in 2009.  She has since made an excellent recovery.

The Archdeacon will be running the course with his daughter, Lucy. He said: “Everyone is invited to walk or run up to 10 miles, or from as little as 3.  Please help us by joining in on the day and encouraging your church members to take part.

“By gracious permission of Her Majesty the Queen, in her Diamond Jubilee year, we will be making our way round the private part of the beautiful Sandringham Estate.  Why not bring a picnic to enjoy after your exercise?”

There are comprehensive details of how to take part, promote and sponsor the Archdeacon’s Charge on the Diocese of Norwich website
