Church project gives PE kits to Norwich school

LisaMarshallNichollsThis week Norwich Christian project Hope NR5 donated PE kits to West Earlham Infant and Nursery School as part of their ongoing service to the local community.

Hope NR5, the community outreach project of Eternity Norwich church on Earlham Green Lane, donated 35 PE kits to West Earlham Infant and Nursery School this week.

This is the fourth school that Hope NR5 has provided PE kits for, after asking schools what their pupils most needed.

Lisa Marshall-Nichols, Hope NR5 Project Leader said: “Many children do not have a PE kit for school.  It is hard for parents to find the money each time for kits, especially if you have more than one child. So giving the school spare PE kits stops children feeling upset because they have no kit, and enables them to feel part of the team when going to other events as a school.”

The schools maintain ownership of the kits, so they can be used by children for years to come.

The Hope NR5 project also acts as distribution centre for Norwich Foodbank and since Easter 2013 have run The Lunch Club, to provide a place for children to access a hot meal when schools are closed.

Last Christmas, Hope NR5 worked with Norwich Foodbank and The Henderson Trust to give hampers and presents to the families who attend their Lunch Club.

Lisa said: "The aim of Hope NR5 is to show the church actively working alongside and with other charities and agencies in the local community to provide support to families. Unless we step out and show we care, how can people have hope for themselves and their families?"
