Norfolk Emerge Christian network launches

Emerge-Logo400A new non-denominational Christian network for young adults in rural areas in Norfolk is being launched in Norwich on May 10.

Jessie Walrond, one of the organisers, said: “God is on the move in rural Norfolk. New things are springing up around the county, and one of these is the Emerge network for 18-30 year olds. The first event held by the Emerge network is this coming Saturday, May 10, at St Stephen’s church in Norwich. Expect an evening of worship, vision casting, cake, and networking.”

The purpose of the Emerge network is to link up, strengthen and equip young adults in rural areas, to serve their local communities and explore God’s calling for their lives. The network will work across denominations, and aims to reach even the most isolated and rural of places. It exists to encourage and support those already on the ground, living, working and worshipping in rural areas.

“Sometimes, the church gets a bit stuck when it comes to young adults” says Jessie, who is an ecumenical rural evangelist. “Once people have left a youth group they often slip off the radar, and may or may not return to church at an older age, Many of us aren’t youth, but we still don’t have the whole of our lives figured out. We’re inbetween. So where can we go, who can we connect with and how can we serve?

JessieWalrond450“The Emerge network seeks to engage with these questions by actively seeking to link up young adults in the same position, to support, encourage and resource them. We haven’t got all the answers. But we believe God is breaking old moulds and trying something new. We believe he’s on the move.”

The meeting in St Stephen’s church in Norwich at 7pm on May 10 is for an evening of worship, networking, vision sharing and cake. Everyone is welcome and invited to come and explore what this network could look like, meet other people and have some fun.
