Cromer church to host youth worship event
2016: The “Encounter” youth worship experience is coming to St Martins Church in Cromer on Wednesday October 19, and all local youngsters are invited to come along. Tony Rothe reports.
The evening will build on the success of the termly Encounter event in Norwich, pictured above, and also two similar events at Lighthouse in Sheringham earlier this year, both organised by Norwich Youth For Christ (YFC) but looking to work in partnership with local churches. The event is aimed at 11 to 18 year-olds.
The Encounter experience is designed for smaller youth groups and individual Christians who may be isolated in rural communities, to enable them to join together as part of something bigger. The evening will involve games, challenges and food, with a live band leading the worship and great relevant bible teaching.
Encounter is designed, planned and delivered in collaboration with young people. It is part of YFC’s ‘Resourcing Others’ strategy and is aimed at encouraging and enabling young people to be salt and light in their daily life. It is intended as a resource for churches who may wish to engage their youth group with a wider Christian audience and link young people across denominations.
Pete Skivington, organiser of the Sheringham event, said "Norwich YFC do a fantastic job of engaging young people with the gospel, and we are delighted to host this event which we hope will encourage young people in the area to connect with each other and God. At the last event, one youngster described the evening as "life-changing", which was a huge encouragement"
The event is on Wednesday October 19. The venue is St Martin's Church, Suffield Park : Mill Road, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 0BH. Doors open at 7pm with youth café.
