Bishop of Norwich awards church magazine prize

On Sunday November 6, the Bishop of Norwich awarded a prize and certificate to the 9-year old winner of a competition run by Eaton Parishes Churches Magazine, asking entrants to design a cover for their Christmas magazine depicting the Christmas story.

The winner of the first prize in a competition run by Eaton Parishes Magazine for children inviting them to draw a picture of The Christmas Story was Alexandra Turner, aged 9, a pupil at Colman Junior School (pictured).
The runner-up’s prize was awarded to Milo Clabburn, also aged 9, a pupil at Town Close School, and there were another six children whose entries were highly commended by the judges.
Alexandra's winning picture will now be the cover of the Eaton Parishes' Christmas magazine.
The competition was judged by bestselling novelist Rachel Hore who attends Christ Church Eaton, international award winning professional photographer Joe Lenton and Michelle Woodall from the magazine’s team of editors.
The three judges said: "We were impressed with the creativity shown in the entries. It was great to see such a wide variety of approaches and ideas. Choosing a winner certainly wasn't easy and we want to thank all participants for their entries and the enjoyable morning we spent looking through them. Eaton has some talented young people!"

Patrick Richmond, Vicar of Christ Church Eaton, said: "Congratulations to Alexandra Turner, who is a member of the congregation - the judges assure us that entries were judged anonymously! We’re so grateful to Ismene Durand whose idea it was to run the competition, and also to the judges – Rachel Hore, Michelle Woodall and Joe Lenton, as well as for the wonderful contributions from the children, all of which were appreciated."
The first prize was a £20 Jarrold's voucher and the prize for the runner-up was a £10 Jarrold's voucher.
