Christian author Gracie Wright is asking for support as she donates 1,000 copies of her new children’s book ‘Silly Eric’s Countdown To Christmas’ to foodbanks across Norfolk and East Anglia for inclusion in their Christmas hampers.

Award-winning author Gracie Wright from Beccles has donated 1,000 copies of her new children’s book to foodbanks across Norfolk.  The ‘Silly Eric’s Countdown To Christmas’ books will be included in Christmas hampers to be given to Norfolk families with children living in poverty.

Gracie is a children’s author and Christian who has created a series of books around the character, Silly Eric. She was nominated for a Pride of Britain award last year and is both an advocate of reading and helping people overcome difficulty.  When Gracie was 11 she suffered a serious brain injury through a car crash and had to learn to read and write again.

This year Gracie’s desire to help others has led to her to donate hundreds of autographed Silly Eric books to Foodbanks across Norfolk including to Norwich Foodbank, Waveney Foodbank, Cromer Foodbank, Thetford Foodbank and Lowestoft Foodbank.

Matt Scade, Operations Manager for Waveney Foodbank, said: “We give them to families with young children who probably otherwise wouldn’t have the money to go and buy a book.  We know that for families with no money for food, going out to buy a book or even going to the library really isn’t a priority.”

Now Gracie has donated an additional 1,000 copies of her Christmas themed book to foodbanks across Norfolk and Suffolk for inclusion in their Christmas hampers.

Gracie said: “No one wants to feel left out at Christmas and this is the perfect opportunity to show an act of kindness.  It is so special to read a story with your children. Join me in giving a family the opportunity to read a new story together this Christmas – a story with good morals and a positive message, which includes the story of the birth of Jesus.”
