7in7 marathon Soul CF
NCFC chaplains run seven marathons in seven days

Senior Pastor at SOUL Church Jon Norman and Norwich City Chaplain Lewis Blois are running seven marathons in seven days to raise money for SOUL Church’s new facilities on Heartsease Lane in Norwich.

The challenge is to raise £1 million towards a new building and community facility on Norwich's Heartsease Lane, which will be the new home of SOUL Church and the SOUL Foundation.

The Soul 7in7 challenge sees the two Norwich City FC Chaplains run seven marathons in seven days starting on Easter Monday and finishing on Sunday April 28.

The new church building will be a home for SOUL Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that provides a helping hand to those who are most in need within Norwich and the surrounding areas.

The Foundation provides food, clothing, education, mentoring, companionship and practical support to homeless and vulnerable men, women and children – support they may not receive from anyone else. SOUL Foundation exists to bring love in to action.

Jon said, "I'm not passionate about the building, I'm passionate about the people's lives that we can impact through this building, feeding the homeless, a safe and fun place for young people to hang out, a place for the lonely, a place for community, a place to call home."

Jon called the venture: ‘the biggest challenge of my life so far’ and encouraged people to get involved and support them by running alongside them or cheering them along the way.

Throughout this week, the duo will run a total of 128 miles in a variety of 26-mile routes across Norwich and Norfolk including loops of Norwich’s Outer Ring Road, a run from Cromer to Sea Palling and five times from SOUL Church’s current location on Mason Road to the Heartsease Lane site.

Rt Rev Graham James, former Bishop of Norwich, voiced his support saying: “SOUL Church has done wonderful work on its present restricted site but the call to return to Heartsease is clear. The imaginative plans for the new church building have been grounded in prayer and the knowledge that God is doing great things in Norwich. That’s why I am so glad to support this appeal and to pray God’s blessing on all Soul Church seeks to do.”

Crowds of supporters have been encouraging Jon and Lewis on, along the route, including TV presenter Jake Humphrey and Lord and Lady Dannatt.

Jake Humphrey said, "What Jon doing is nothing short of heroic. Having seen his leg muscles, it's also nothing short of crazy! I wish him all the best  with 7 marathons in 7 days - which will be his latest miracle if he completes it!"
