Co-ordinator role at St Mary’s Contact Centre, Norwich

St Mary’s Contact Centre in Norwich is looking to appoint a new part-time coordinator to facilitate safe contact between children and their non-resident parent.

  • Do you believe that children should be able to spend time with both parents?

  • Do you want to work with families to make this possible?

  • Can you communicate well with people and help them through difficult situations?

  • Can you organise, encourage and inspire a team of volunteers?

According to the Census in 2011 there were more than 20,000 homes in Norfolk consisting of a lone parent with dependent children. Relationships after separation or divorce can be difficult but the majority of children want and need to maintain a relationship with parents and relatives who are important to them.

St Mary’s Contact Centre aims to be a welcoming, comfortable, safe and non-judgemental place where children can see their non-resident parent or wider family.

Around 15 families use the service each session, some spending the whole time in the building, others going off-site for some or all of the session.

The sessions are run from 10am-1pm fortnightly on a Saturday morning.

The co-ordinator's hours are 16 hours per fortnight, £9 per hour. The role is for one year initially.
