Swaffham Church hosts Christmas Tree Festival

Christmas tree and baubleFollowing the success of their first Christmas Tree Festival in 2011, St Peter and St Paul Church, Swaffham are hosting another to raise money for local charities and the church.

The second Swaffham Festival of Christmas Trees at St Peter and St Paul Church will start on Sunday 2nd December, 6pm with an Advent carol service and run until the following Sunday at 4pm, concluding with an auction of all the decorated trees.

The church will be open every day from Monday 3rd December, 10.00 am - 4.00pm with refreshments available and open longer on Friday until 8pm.

This year there will be 30 trees each decorated by a different organisation.  Admission is free but there will be a donation tin under each tree.  50% of monies raised will go to church funds and 50% to the charity involved.

Last year thousands of visitors called in to see the display of 25 trees that had been decorated by local charities and approximately £4,200 was raised during the 10-day event.

St. Peter and St. Paul’s church will be decorating a Christmas ‘Tree of Prayer’ with card shapes left at the base of the tree with ribbons attached, for visitors to write their prayer and place on the tree in the form of a decoration.
