Bishop of Norwich to take a ‘Leap of Faith’

Skydive350Norfolk’s drug and alcohol charity The Matthew Project is appealing for brave volunteers to take part in a sponsored skydive on May 17 alongside the Bishop of Norwich and members of his family.

Fifteen brave souls have already signed up to take part in a charity skydive event to help raise funds for The Matthew Project, Norfolk’s drug and alcohol charity, which celebrates its 30th birthday this year.

The tandem skydives will takes place at UK Parachuting in Beccles on Saturday May 17 and there is availability for more people to join in.

Sharon Hulbert, Media & Fundraising Manager for the charity who did a skydive last year, said: “Ideally we would like to get 30 people on the day to take part to tie in with our birthday year.

As well as the Bishop of Norwich, his wife Julie and son Dominic, other well-known names who have put themselves forward to take part in this challenge include former High Sheriff of Norfolk Henry Cator and his wife Ski, Mark Jeffries, Senior Partner of law firm Mills & Reeve in Norwich and Bob Rose who recently retired as Managing Partner from Chartered Accountancy firm Larking Gowen

Bob RoseBob Rose (pictured right), who wrote to his contacts before leaving Larking Gowen letting them know about his planned skydive said:  “I have been asked to take part in a mass tandem skydive on May 17th to raise funds as part of The Matthew Project's 30th Birthday Celebrations.

"The Matthew Project does a brilliant job working in Norfolk and Suffolk supporting people with drug and alcohol related issues and, as many of you will know, this is a subject particularly dear to my heart, given my late sister's problems. Anything you can give would be much appreciated. In the meantime, I'm very much looking forward to the occasion and trying not to dwell too much on the old adage "if at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you!""

If you would like to know more about the event or would like to sponsor any of those taking part please contact Sharon Hulbert on 01603 626123 or email sharon.hulbert@matthewproject.org
