As from October 1, the
Matthew Project’s Under18 team will have a new name of
Unity, providing two new services in partnership with
Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and
Norfolk Carers Support.
Commissioned by the
Norfolk Drug and Alcohol Partnership in October 2009, the Under18 Service has achieved a great deal in the last 5 years and to celebrate those achievements, an
Impact Event is to be held at The Matthew Project Head Office in Norwich from 4-6pm on
Thursday September 18. The event, which is by invitation only, will look at the impact the charity has had on young people, on other services and on Norfolk as a whole, in terms of the support and education it offers.
Currently the Under18 Service, which is made up of counsellors, social workers, substance misuse workers, nurses, administrators and managers, is working with 144 young people across Norfolk. They are supported by volunteers and students who give their time to help young people and their families.
Naomi Selim, Under18 Services Manager, said: “The current Under18 Service has worked with thousands of young people since its inception in 2009, providing advice and support around substance misuse issues to young people and their families across Norfolk. This event celebrates the great work that has been undertaken and provides an opportunity to look forward to what is next.”
Attending the event will be young people who have been involved with the service, current and previous staff members and a range of partners from Children’s Services, Health and the Voluntary Sector.
