Norfolk Christians urged to join climate lobby

ClimateChange2CFSupporters across Norfolk and Suffolk are coming together for a mass lobby of Parliament on June 17 organised by the Climate Coalition and supported by Christian Aid, CAFOD, Tearfund, SPEAK and many other organisations.

The aim is to ask our newly elected government to stand up against the vested interests (in particular the oil companies) and make climate change their priority. If we don’t change track then many of the things we love will be gone for ever.

Thousands will be heading to London to take part in the lobby in support of The Climate Coalition’s For The Love Of… campaign. They will speak to their MP about the things that they love and want to protect from climate change as well as sharing their vision of a cleaner and greener planet.

If you are going let your local MP know now and try to arrange to see them on the day. Let Christian Aid know what you’re doing by contacting the regional office at norwich@christian-aid.org

ClimateChangeCFRegional Coordinator, Julian Bryant said “it’s vital as Christians that we care for the planet God has entrusted us with, both the environment which we love and people depending on it across the world.  Together, we can encourage our politicians to act to reduce carbon dioxide pollution, as well as reduce the carbon footprint of our family, church and community.  The Bible is clear that we have a responsibility to care for the planet and the poor. This involves prophetic action. Please join us at the lobby or send messages to your local MP about your concern.”

2015 is a crucial year in the battle against climate change, which is hitting poor people hardest. In December, governments will meet in Paris to reach a fair climate deal.
