Norwich church man on the moon advert
The much anticipated Christmas advert for St Thomas' church in Norwich was aired for the first time today, as a follow-up to last year's award-winning video inspired by the John Lewis Christmas advert.
The John Lewis two-minute clip shows a six-year-old called Lily trying to reach an old man who lives alone in a hut on the moon and her efforts to connect with him. John Lewis teamed up with Age UK ro raise awareness of the issue of loneliness amongst older people. The advert ends with the strapline ‘Show someone they’re loved this Christmas’.

The advert was created by a team from St Thomas, including Beej Harris, who earlier this month accepted an award at Network Norfolk's Digital Communications Awards for 'Most Innovative Use of Digital Media. This was for last year's Tommy the Tiger advert, a recreation of the John Lewis advert which encouraged people to consider the real meaning of Christmas. This was an internet sensation and has been viewed over 52,000 times.
Beej said, "We were excited to have another go at a Christmas advert after last year and wanted to focus on the message, having a film that was fun whilst being thought provoking and giving people a glimpse of the true, deeper meaning of Christmas. If it goes viral then that's a lovely bonus but the priority for us was making sure the content was on point and introduces the reason for it all, Jesus!"
