Canon Andrew White, a courageous Middle East Peace Envoy described as “something of a legend”, was the international guest speaker at the FGB Christmas Dinner Evening on Tuesday, December 5, at the Mercure Hotel, Norwich, in the presence of the Lord Mayor.

Widely known as the ‘Vicar of Baghdad’, Andrew had 2,000 Iraqis in his congregation, and won eight awards for his international peace-making work, despite a long and painful battle with multiple sclerosis. He remains a man of great charm and energy.

Many of Andrew’s congregation have been martyred for their faith, and Andrew has faced numerous death threats.

Born in London, he was trained in medicine - and went on to become the youngest Canon in the Church of England.  He was later appointed Middle East Envoy by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Andrew has written five books and is married, with two sons.

All visitors are welcome  to this inspirational Dinner Evening at the Mercure Hotel at 7pm for 7.30pm.  Tickets at £15 each can be easily booked in advance.

This dinner is one of the regular FGB dinner evenings where speakers share "new life stories."  These events are arranged by the Norwich Chapter of the Full Gospel Businessmen (FGB), part of a worldwide fellowship in more than 100 nations.

FGB is endorsed by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, who says: “We need more men like them.”
