Mini-marathon fund-raiser for Stalham Baptists
The May Day One-Mile Marathon organised by Stalham Baptist Church raised an amazing total of £1051.06.
The idea of the event was to get 27 people to run, walk or push a pram 4 times round a quarter- mile course set out on Stalham Recreation Ground.
But 51 sponsored people actually took part in the event on May Day Bank Holiday to raise money for the Baptist Church as well as other charities, many in fancy dress. Several runners undertook the run and the first to finish was Peter Skivington.
The afternoon was supported by the Happisburgh Lifeboat, and there were bric a brac stalls as well as music by a blues band.
The SWAN group that meet every Wednesday at Stalham Youth Club to support women with mental health issues organised an Arts and Crafts exhibition and the Poppy Centre opened to showcase all that was going on in the new building including the very successful Community Gym.
Trett Phillips Estate Agents sponsored the event with a generous donation of £100.
Stalham Baptist Church is planning to hold the event again in 2020.
