Pete Mcallen2010: Known for his lively and captivating performances, singer/songwriter Pete McAllen from Diss has launched his latest offering this month, Animals in London, from his debut album set to be released in 2010.
Following on from the success of his second EP, The Optical Illusion, McAllen’s latest single, an amalgamation of rock, pop and alt., captures the electric London life with hard-hitting lyrics and indescribable energy.
Commenting on the inspiration for his freshest track, McAllen remarks:

“Coming from the country, I’ve always seen London as life on steroids - you get the best and the worst. I wanted a raucous song that had heaps of energy to reflect the commuter rush on the tube and the somewhat distaste you get as an outsider when rudely shoved out of the way, especially in full view of a sea of blank faces.”

It's true to say Pete McAllen has never been the most placid of performers, yet this most recent array of gigs (most notably the one-off support slot for Bloc Party in London, 2009) saw him up his game and deliver a new level of energy and musicianship.

McAllen's debut tour in America, plus multiple London industry showcases, has led to a solid UK and international following (including gigs in Poland, Kenya and Mexico).  His previous EP achieved airplay on national radio (BBC6), international and regional shows, as well as appearances at several UK festivals, and over 250 gigs.

  •  “Instant likeability, not to mention mind numbingly addictive chorus’…Animals-in-LondonIf Pete were to get backed by a major label, I'd expect to see him touring the academies.” Tom Crowther, All Gigs.
  • "Wow where do you get that voice from? You are incredible live, completely loved your set! I foresee a long career in music for you.” Sam Crompton, Excellence Records
  • “Potential with a capital P” Cross Rhythms
  • “About 3% of singer songwriters actually make me sit up and listen - McAllen is one of them. He has energy on stage that is captivating. The scene needs more performers like him”  Blush, London.
