Premier Christian Radio is exploring the idea of setting up regional media centres, including one for the Eastern region based in Norwich, it was revealed to a meeting of Norfolk church leaders in Norwich on January 27.

The breakfast networking event at the Maid’s Head Hotel in Norwich and attended by around 30 local Christian leaders, also outlined the broad work and vision of Premier through radio, internet, TV and associated ministries.

Premier church relations and marketing manager, Kevin Bennett (pictured above), said: “Premier is passionate about serving the local church through partnership. Together we can make a lasting change in our nation. Premier is uniquely placed to help campaign on areas of Christian concern, right to the heart of government.

“At present we are also working on a strategy of regionalisation, which could see a Premier presence established in the East of England.”

Kevin outlined the broad work of Premier, which started out as the UK’s first local Christian radio station at Battersea Park in London in 1995.

Today it broadcasts 24/7 on the MW in London and nationally on DAB radio and via the internet and Freeview.

Premier serves the church in a number of ways, said Kevin: “It helps congregations deepen their faith, encourages the growth of healthy spirituality, helps communicate the Christian faith to the outside world through social action and in mission, tells the church’s stories, invites people to commit their lives to Christ and provides a Christian voice in the media.”

Its ministries include radio, TV, internet, a lifeline, Bible readings, worship and prayer, Christian magazines, campaigns and events.
