Norfolk church joins world-wide network

WellspringA Norfolk church has just joined an 11,000-strong world-wide network of churches and is set to run its first-ever inner healing conference near Norwich.

Pastor Michelle Smith reports.

Wellspring Family Church began in 2001 in a small building in Carr Lane, Poringland with just six people. The founding pastors Rod and Michelle Smith went to the Partners in Harvest (PIH) international leader’s school at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship in 2003 and decided then that they wanted to join the ‘river’ movement.

Our church was still only a baby then and the European co-ordinators wanted us to be more established before we joined. We kept links with the PIH movement, attending most of the twice-yearly conferences in Hemel Hempstead and last year they were invited to apply again.

The timing really felt right this time and when the co-ordinators came in March they were confident that we should join now.

The network has almost 11,000 churches now, with over 10,000 of them being in Mozambique under the ministry of Heidi and Roland Baker. There are churches in Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil and several other nations. Other ministers from more traditional streams like Baptist or Anglican can also join as Friends in Harvest ministers.

The founding church TACF - now called Catch the Fire - is still in revival which began in 1994. Rod and I are joining a big team of around 35 to do our first international leaders school in Kenya and we fly out this week.

This is a very exciting trip, where we will be doing a medical and feeding programme for 40,000 people in the first week and holding a leaders school for 500-600 Kenyan leaders in the second week.

At the end of May, Wellspring hosts its first inner healing conference with Rivers of Grace ministries whose founders Scott and Hilary Dalton have been linked with Catch the Fire for many years.

We really want to bless the wider church community with this conference. We are all in a process of healing and restoration and this is Scott and Hilary’s speciality.

Wellspring works closely with other local churches and ministries and we believe that having a kingdom mindset is very important. There are some very exciting things happening in the city of Norwich and surrounding area, God is certainly on the move and many ministers are working together, linking their congregations and pooling resources. We are blessed to be a part of it, but we are only just seeing the beginnings of something much bigger.
