Norwich Bishop to ordain ex-GP and scientist

The Bishop of Norwich is to ordain 9 new deacons and 8 priests in Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 30th June including a former GP, lecturer, accountant, scientist and a great Zumba enthusiast.

The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James, is to ordain 9 new deacons and 8 priests in Norwich Cathedral on Saturday 30th June including former GP – James Monro, former lecturer at Norwich City CollegeMargaret McPhee, former accountant – David Smith, scientist – Graham Wilkins and former Health Care Assistant and Zumba enthusiast - Zoë Ferguson.


The 9 new deacons, who will be ordained in a service starting at 11am on Saturday 30th June, have just finished their training for ordination and are preparing for their first year of ordained ministry in the parishes to which they are being sent.

 

The full list, with their new locations are:
Julie Boyd who will now serve at Dersingham, Shernborne and Anmer
Mark Capron to serve at Pakefield, Carlton Colville and Mutford
Zoë Ferguson to serve in the Trunch Team Ministry
Josephine Fowler
to serve at Oulton Broad
Andrew Jones to serve at Sprowston
Margaret McPhee to serve at Mile Cross
James Monro to serve in the Saxon Shore Benefice (Brancaster)
David Smith to serve at Thorpe St Andrew
Graham Wilkins to serve at North and South Wootton


The 8 candidates who will be ordained to the priesthood at 3pm on the same day, have already completed their first year in their training parishes, where they will continue to serve for the next three years.

 

They are Richard Burbidge, serving at Christ Church, Lowestoft; Lynn Chapman, serving at Sheringham; Heather Cracknell, serving at Cringleford and Colney; Wendy Evans, serving at Oulton Broad; Tom Lilley, serving at Attleborough and Besthorpe; Karen Rayner, serving at Ormesby St Margaret with Scratby, Ormesby St Michael and Rollesby; James Stewart, serving in the Great Yarmouth Team Ministry; Jennifer Elliott de Riverol from the Diocese in Europe serving at All Saints Tenerife, with San Martin de Porres, La Palma.
