Norwich Christian business launch Toes for Turf

Steve GaskinChristian owned Norwich-based company, Right Angle Events, has launched an innovative new schools pack looking at the forensics of footprints with the aim of raising funds to build a new football pitch for a Bulgarian orphanage.

Norwich based business Right Angle Events is the award winning initiative of former Scotland Yard Detective Chief Inspector and teacher Steve Gaskin (pictured right) and his wife, former Police Sergeant Kate Gaskin both of whom are committed members of Norwich Central Baptist Church (NCBC).

The company specialises in developing and delivering a unique range of hands-on CSI events, activities and resources for adults and children, including GCSE Applied Science Masterclasses, team building events, themed weekends and children’s parties.

Now Right Angle Events have launched a new education pack called ‘Toes for Turf’
comprising at least 4 hours of fun teaching material linked to Key Stage 3&4 Mathematics.  The pack enables up to 60 students to examine the uses of fingerprints and footprints in forensics, investigating whether feet have unique patterns like fingers that can uniquely identify individuals.

Barzitsa Football PitchSteve Gaskin is using the development of the pack to invest in his passion for the
Bulgarian orphanage, Barzitsa.  The sale of each resource pack, which costs £150 plus VAT, will contribute £24 or 50 Bulgarian Levs to pay for the conversion of one square metre of ground into part of a fully functioning football pitch for the orphanage.

Each year teams from NCBC travel to the Barzitsa Children’s Homein Bulgaria to do renovation and decorating jobs, run a fun programme of activities and generally build Christian fellowship.  Steve has been a member and a leader of the team on three occasions.

He describes his visits to Barzitsa as a ‘life changing experience’ and has made it his mission to raise the necessary funding needed to turn a piece of waste land (pictured right) into a football pitch that the 50 children from the orphanage and others beyond can enjoy.

Steve said: “I have had the privilege of working at the orphanage for the past three years. The common denominator between the children, staff and mission friends is football! I missed an “open” goal in a recent “England v Bulgaria” match where we lost 3-2!

“The pitch will make a huge difference to the lives of all at Barzitsa. They will also be able to lay on football matches and tournaments.  If God is behind this it will happen!”

For more information about the resource please contact Steve or Kate Gaskin at info@rightangleevents.co.uk or by phone on 01603 864 647.   They would be keen to hear from teachers, PTAs or anyone who would like to donate money to the conversion of the football pitch.
