Anyone for cricket, ask trio of Norfolk bishops

DiocesanCricket450In preparation for a summer of Ashes cricket, two Norfolk bishops will be pitting their cricketing wits against each other with a third making sure there is fair play all round.

On Friday June 21, its time for cricket as the Bishop’s Game is contested at Marlingford Cricket Club with play starting at 2pm.

The Bishop of Lynn’s XI (drawn mostly from the Lynn archdeaconry) will compete in this prestigious fixture against the Bishop of Thetford’s XI (mostly Norfolk archdeaconry) and to ensure that the game is played in the utmost fairness the Bishop of Norwich will preside as umpire.

If anyone would like to participate please contact the Bishop’s Chaplain, Simon Ward: bishops.chaplain@norwich.anglican.org.

Of course, spectators are very welcome to come and enjoy the afternoon of friendly competition in what should be an interesting diocesan gathering!

The team form the Diocese of Norwich is again competing in a few fixtures this year and again, if anyone is interested in participating please contact Simon Ward.

Playing cricket in the diocesan team is not necessarily about being “good” at cricket and is enjoyed very much in a spirit of fun and fellowship!
