Day of celebration as 16 ordained in Norwich

PetertideOrdinations450It was a day of celebration, commitment and confidence as 16 ordinations were performed by the Bishop of Norwich at Norwich Cathedral on June 29.

 
Bishop Graham James ordained eight candidates to the Diaconate and a further eight to the priesthood.
 
“Today is a day for celebration, commitment and confidence,” he said. “Celebration as 16 people are ordained deacon and  priest in the Church of God.
 
“Today is a day for commitment – their commitment, yes, to serve Christ with the whole of their lives – but ours also, to love and pray and care for them in their ministries.
 
“Today is a day for confidence – confidence in the God who goes on calling us, his living stones, his priestly people,  to ‘speak the truth about Jesus’ and to proclaim his love to the world.
 
At 11am Bishop Graham ordained to the Diaconate:
  • Hilary De Lyon, (To serve at Swaffham and Sporle)
  • Martin Hartley,  (To serve in the Tas Valley Team Ministry)
  • Julia Hemp, (To serve at Earlham)
  • Peter Herbert, (To serve at Cromer)
  • David Palmer, (To serve at Lowestoft, St Margaret)
  • Helen Rengert, (To serve at Norwich, Thorpe Hamlet, St Matthew)
  • Andrew Slater,  (To serve at Wymondham with Silfield and Spooner Row)
  • William Warren, (To serve at Norwich, Heigham, Holy Trinity)
 
At 3pm the Bishop ordained the following to the Priesthood
  • Julie Boyd  (Serving at Dersingham, Shernborne & Anmer)
  • Mark Capron (Serving at Pakefield, Carlton Colville & Mutford)
  • Zoë Ferguson (Serving in the Trunch Team Ministry)
  • Andrew Jones (Serving at Sprowston with Beeston St Andrew)
  • Margaret McPhee (Serving at Stalham, East Ruston, Brunstead, Sutton & Ingham)
  • James Monro (Serving in the Saxon Shore Benefice)
  • David Smith (Serving at Thorpe Episcopi)
  • Graham Wilkins (Serving at North & South Wootton)
