QUIET WATERS CHRISTIAN RETREAT HOUSE
A place of Rest, Renewal and Spiritual Refreshment
Quiet Waters provides a place of rest, renewal and spiritual refreshment to people from far and wide. Set in the quiet Suffolk countryside on the banks of the River Waveney, it is literally a stone’s throw from Norfolk.
A nine-bedroomed Georgian House with a small Tudor annex and a more modern, easy-access wing with a chapel, Quiet Waters is situated just outside Bungay.
It is set in two acres of land with a large walled garden, a kitchen garden where vegetables and fruit are harvested to provide food for the house, a grassed area with seating, a summer house on the banks of the river Waveney (anglers may bring their fishing gear) and an area of woodland providing a wildlife haven.
Since January 2014 we have been operating on a Donations only basis for individuals.
We have suggested donations which can be found at
We only ask that individuals pay what they can afford
For groups of up to 14 people in 7 rooms, we charge the suggested donation. We also take a £10 per person per night deposit up to £300. We also ask for payment in full, one month before the start of the retreat.
Christian Retreat House,
It is an easy 10-15 mins walk into the fine market town of Bungay and there are bus services to many places including Beccles, Great Yarmouth and Norwich. We are within easy reach of the coast.
We offer a choice of catering arrangements from bed only to full board, refreshments and lunch for day groups of up to 20 people. Special dietary needs can be catered for. Accommodation for groups can be provided for up to 14 people in 7 bedrooms.
There is a peaceful chapel, a sitting room with an open fire, a drawing room, dining room and a small guest kitchen with a fridge, and drinks-making facilities. We are not a silent retreat house and most guests enjoy times of relaxation and fellowship together. However those seeking quiet can find spaces to retreat and spend time with God.
A wide variety of people have enjoyed the peaceful and secure environment of Quiet Waters. We have welcomed clergy groups, Alpha courses, special activity groups and house groups.
The Team at Quiet Waters lead a rhythm of prayer at at 10am, 2pm and 7.30pm each day except Sundays. Guests are welcome to join us or not, as they wish. The staff team are available to support guests through individual guided retreats, prayer or a listening ear.
Quiet Waters is an interdenominational charity.
