With the Harvest season in full swing, King’s Lynn Foodbank is appealing for volunteers to help sort the growing supply of food in their well-stocked warehouse.

In the midst of a successful Harvest appeal King’s Lynn Foodbank is calling for volunteers to help sort the plentiful supply of donations that are coming into their warehouse.

Pastor Kevan Crane of King's Lynn Baptist Church, Foodbank Centre Manager thanked contributing churches and other organisations for their generosity: “The Harvest donations are coming into Kings Lynn Foodbank in bountiful supply. We are so thankful for your generous giving and this will help us to meet the growing demand for food parcels beyond Christmas.”

Andy King, a member of the King’s Lynn Foodbank Steering Committee said: “The Harvest festival season is in full swing and we're taking collections from schools on a regular basis. As a result, there's a lot of food in our warehouse on the Hardwick Narrows Industrial Estate that needs to be sorted by food type.”

Two evening sessions are planned to sort the food in the warehouse on Wednesday October 16 and Thursday October 17 at 7.30pm – 9.00pm.  If you are able to volunteer your time please contact Andy King by email on andy@kingslynn.foodbank.org.uk.

King's Lynn Foodbank, an initiative of King's Lynn Churches Together with help from homeless charity, The Purfleet Trust, opened its doors in October 2011.  It is open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 2pm – 4pm at The Purfleet Trust, 5 St Ann’s Fort.

The Foodbank provides food parcels with 3-4 days’ food to people in economic crisis to help bridge the gap whilst their situation stabilises. All vouchers are issued by local partner agencies such as social services, GPs, the Citizens Advice Bureau and health workers.

A supermarket collection for Kings Lynn Foodbank is planned on Friday November 29 to Sunday December 1 with more details to follow.
